Six construction companies vie for contract to renovate Lake Worth casino

LAKE Worth — Six development companies need to control the renovation from the historic on line casino making at Lake Well worth Beach.

Town staffers opened the responses to a request for qualifications Wednesday . A selection committee will review them subsequent week prior to hearing presentations from the organizations at town hall around the afternoon of Oct. 25.

The six companies that submitted responses are:

* Kast Building Co. of West Palm Seashore.
* Annunziata Standard Contracting of Lake Well worth.
* The Morganti Group, based in Danbury, Conn., with southeast regional offices in West Palm Seaside.
* Straticon Building Services of Richland, Mich.
* Kaufman Lynn General Contractors of Boca Raton.
* Hedrick Brothers Building Co. of West Palm Seashore.

The town is looking for a company to handle the renovation of your 1922 on line casino creating on an “at risk” basis, meaning the business would need to pay for any costs exceeding the $6 million spending budget.

A sample contract will be given to the development organizations Tuesday .
The top-ranked firm is going to be chosen Oct. 25 and is going to be scheduled to negotiate a ultimate contract with the commission Oct. 27.

Commissioner Scott Maxwell explained town really should have included the $6 million spending limit in the original solicitation for construction companies.

“We’re just moving way too rapidly,” Maxwell stated.

In a conceptual design presented Sept. 14, REG Architects stated the $6 million price estimate for the renovation includes a $1 million cushion for unforeseen issues. The firm is expected to present its ultimate conceptual design to commissioners Tuesday .



If all goes as planned, town hopes to break ground around the on line casino renovation upcoming summer time.

The city plans to borrow $6 million from its investment portfolio to pay out for the renovation, then take out a bank loan and pay back itself back with interest right after the making is restored and occupied in 2013.
